Trusculpt Q & A

What is truSculpt 3D?

truSculpt 3D is a noninvasive body contouring treatment that targets and eliminates fat cells in problem areas, such as the abdomen. This treatment uses innovative monopolar radiofrequency technology to reduce unwanted fat and sculpt the silhouette you desire.

Unlike other nonsurgical body contouring treatments, truSculpt 3D takes a multidimensional approach. In addition to eliminating fat cells, truSculpt 3D also tightens and firms loose, sagging skin.

Who is a good candidate for truSculpt?

You may want to consider truSculpt if you have areas of stubborn fat that don’t seem to go away no matter how hard you try. Using the truSculpt 3D handpiece, Dr. Chan can treat isolated pockets of fat in notorious problem areas, such as:

  • Love handles
  • Upper arms
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Above the knees
  • Abdomen

truSculpt isn’t a substitute for healthy weight loss or a treatment for obesity. Ideal candidates for this treatment are women who are at or near their optimal body weight but struggle with fat deposits that resist diet and exercise.

How does truSculpt work?

truSculpt is a noninvasive treatment that doesn’t require anesthesia, incisions, or downtime for recovery. The truSculpt handpiece sends controlled radiofrequency energy into your tissues. This energy selectively targets fat cells with clinically therapeutic temperatures.

In only one 60-minute session, truSculpt destroys about 24% of fat cells without harming your skin or other tissues. Once these fat cells are treated, your body naturally flushes them out over the course of 12 weeks.

What should I expect from a truSculpt treatment?

First, Dr. Chan performs a physical exam and reviews your medical history to make sure you’re a good candidate for truSculpt. He discusses your specific areas of concern and desired outcome, then creates a personalized treatment plan for you.

The amount of time it takes depends on the area being treated. Dr. Chan usually spends about 60 minutes on the abdomen and flanks (sides). truSculpt isn’t painful, but you may feel a warming sensation similar to a hot stone massage.

After treatment, you can go back to work or normal activities right away. You may experience some redness in the treatment area, but this usually fades in a day or two.
